Cacao and Almond Butter Smoothie

Cacao & Almond Butter Smoothie

I have a serious sweet tooth. I’ve never met a chocolate dessert that I have not inhaled. For Mother’s Day, my 8yo wrote down that I like smoothies and chocolate. He knows me so well. This cacao and almond butter smoothie tastes ‘desserty,’ (I know grammar police, not a word) because it’s both decadent and delicious. It feels like I’m cheating, but with something really healthy – so no guilt. Take that sweet tooth! Gotcha! Here are the deets:

Cacao and Almond Butter Smoothie
Slurp. Sip. Repeat.

Makes 1 8-10 oz. smoothie

Ingredients:

8 ounces almond/coconut milk

1-2 tbsp. Almond Butter

1 frozen banana*

2 tbsp. raw cacao powder (I prefer Terrasoul which is 100% organic, non-GMO, Fair Trade…)

1 squirt or more of local honey for personal sweetness

1-2 tsp. Chia Seeds optional

*Add ice if you don’t have a frozen banana. (I like to add ice anyway because I like my smoothies thick like a milkshake, especially if they’re chocolate).

Instructions:

  1. Add the almond/coconut milk first, then cacao powder and finally the solid food to the blender. Blend all the ingredients together in a high-speed blender until creamy and smooth. If you want it thicker, add some ice. Enjoy!

Let me know if you liked this smoothie or modified it or threw it out!:)

Do you have a smoothie recipe that helps curb your sweet tooth?
