Hot Summer days call for cool treats. While my boys have been devouring the kid variety of popsicles and ice cream sammies like nobody’s business, I’ve been experimenting with different ingredients to add to my smoothie recipe repertoire. I tried steamed beets (are you a fan?) and let’s just say you can make a bad tasting smoothie, no matter how much honey or frozen bananas you add. So, while I’m determined to make a beets smoothie, I thought a more traditional recipe was in order. Since strawberries are in season, I opted for this always satisfying strawberry banana combo to keep you cool. Best to be enjoyed poolside if possible.

Makes 1 8-10 oz. Strawberry Banana Smoothie.
Ingredients:
8 ounces almond/coconut milk blend
1 cup frozen strawberries*
1 frozen banana
1-2 tsp. Chia Seeds
1-2 tbsp. Vanilla protein powder optional (I prefer the plant-based vegan brand Orgain).
Garnish with sliced strawberries, bananas, cacao nibs, or whatever suits your fancy.
*Add ice if you are using fresh, non-frozen strawberries. (Add ice anyway if you want your smoothies thick like a milkshake. Don’t forget a spoon).
Instructions:
- Add the strawberries, banana, chia seeds, protein powder and almond/coconut milk to the blender. Blend all the ingredients together in a high-speed blender until creamy and smooth. Enjoy!
Let me know if you liked this smoothie or modified it or threw it out!:)
