Down on Cherokee street (has it been deemed the center of the urban hipster world, yet?) at about Texas, the girls from Scarlett Garnet have opened their first boutique. The owners, Katie Miller and Scarlett Griebel, came together about 7 years ago over a love of hand-crafting jewelry and have been working together ever since. My husband met them at a trade show a while back, and he bought me a few pieces for Christmas. For the record, he has a hipster factor that is way above mine, and he has cool taste to boot. Lucky me!

The earrings, named Storm Nouveau, have an interesting edge to them – rock and roll chic – really fun!

The necklace has a spell in the small, glass bottle – a spell for Prosperity, with pieces of garnet, citrine, zincite, marjoram and oak moss (exactly the things I would throw into a prosperity spell!) I love jewelry that makes a statement or has a personal meaning behind it.

Anyway, I love a store that is as cool as it’s owners, and the local flair of Cherokee Street only enhances this vibe. I plan on making a few more excursions down that way again soon, for shopping and some Tacos!
