It’s been a while friends…I hope this finds you cozying into the comforts of fall. You may have noticed I’ve been quiet the last few months. With so much heaviness going on on any given week, I’ve found it really difficult to write about everyday topics which seem so inconsequential. It’s hard to write about a favorite podcast the day after a mass shooting or major hurricane. I find myself thinking, shouldn’t we all be working 24 hours on gun control reform or booking flights to Puerto Rico? And then at once, my kid asks me to make him some mac-n-cheese while joyously and enthusiastically exclaiming how he won a ‘loot box’ on Overwatch, and I’m pulled back into mom-mode, and simpler, sweeter moments. This ebb-and-flow can feel dizzying at times. And so my intention with this blog moving forward is to offer a space to you that highlights the important issues all around us while celebrating the little things that make life meaningful.
On that note, here we are on Friday, ending what felt like a long week. Jeff is making this easy tortilla soup tonight, and then we’re watching Season 2 of Stranger Things. Tomorrow, we’re off to an adults-only Halloween party and the costumes are always fun and creative. We’ve dressed up as Vincent and Mia (Pulp Fiction) and Margot and Ritchie (The Royal Tenenbaums). Do you have a Halloween costume this year? Have a relaxing weekend, and here are some fun links to read, see and do from near and far.
